Finding Your Colour Voice - MANCHESTER - Dec 2024
This weekend workshop is one of a series taking place at venues around the UK. All events have the same aim: to explore and strengthen personal experience of colour, both as an art medium and as a way of living in the moment.
Structured using the same principles, methods and mindsets, each date and location will offer something different to participants. Tangible and transient sources of inspiration will vary as the workshop moves from place to place. Local stories, artefacts, and vernacular environments will change, as will class dynamics, seasonal light and weather. Suitable for all levels of experience and ability.

TIME: 10am - 4pm each day
VENUE: Manchester Art Gallery, Mosley Street, Manchester, M2 3JL, UK.
MANCHESTER WORKSHOP FOCUS: Exploring artists' and makers' use of colour, including historic and geographical trends in colour usage. We will record colour palettes and interactions in the gallery, and reuse them in our own mindful watercolour paintings in our workroom.
INSPIRATIONAL VISIT: The gallery's numerous rooms will provide continuous inspiration during this workshop. We will be able to leave our belongings and works-in-progress in the safety of an allocated room (one with great natural light) while we explore the city's collection of fine and applied art.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Mixed media sketching and annotation (dry materials in galleries) and watercolour painting (in the workroom).
Art supplies and light refreshments will be provided. Please bring your own lunch (a café or supermarket is walking distance from all venues).
Supper at a restaurant (suitable for all diets) in Manchester City centre on the Saturday evening will be optional (not included in the workshop price). Tansy will communicate with you via email about this sociable extra nearer the time.
BONUS: Manchester's Christmas Market (a short walk from the gallery) will be on during this weekend workshop. There will be time to enjoy some shopping and mulled wine, for those who enjoy such festivities, between the end of day 1 and supper.
