Colour Palettes at the V&A - LONDON 25 and 26 Jan
Due to cancellation, a place has become available.
Day 1
DATE: Sat 25th January 2025.
TIME: 10am - 4pm.
VENUE: Victoria and Albert Museum, Cromwell Rd, London, SW7 2RL, UK.
An exact meeting point will be communicated to you via email prior to the workshop.
Day 2
DATE: Sun 26th January 2025.
TIME: 10am - 4pm.
VENUE: Art4Space, 31 Jeffreys Road, Stockwell, London, SW4 6QU, UK.
The aim of this two-day workshop is to explore personal responses to different colour palettes. Galleries and collections within the V&A will provide inspiration: on Day 1 we will work entirely on location at the museum, observing and recording colour combinations as seen in single objects and curated cabinets. On Day 2, we will occupy the Art4Space studio all day, using notes and sketches made on Day 1 as starting points for mindful watercolour painting.
Suitable for all levels of experience. The ability to make representational drawings of artefacts is not required.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Mixed media mark making and annotation (dry materials only on Day 1 in galleries) and watercolour (in the studio on Day 2).
All art supplies are included in the workshop fee.
Light refreshments will be provided on Day 2 in the studio, but not on Day 1 in the V&A. Lunch is not provided on either day.
Supper at a restaurant near the V&A on the Saturday evening will be an optional extra (not included in the workshop price). Tansy will communicate with you via email about this sociable extra nearer the time.
Any questions? Please email [email protected].
This weekend workshop is one of a series taking place at venues around the UK. All events have the same aim: to explore and strengthen personal experience of colour, both as an art medium and as a way of living in the moment.
Structured using the same principles, methods and mindsets, each date and location will offer something different to participants. Tangible and transient sources of inspiration will vary as the workshop moves from place to place. Local stories, artefacts, and vernacular environments will change, as will class dynamics, seasonal light and weather, stimulating unique responses to Tansy’s input, which will be tailored to each venue.
