My favourite watercolour paper: 100% cotton with a textured surface to help you slow right down and really take in the process of painting. (Rough is slightly more textured than cold pressed.) These blocks are glued on four sides to keep paper taut when wet, which minimises buckling*.

*Once you have finished painting, allow your work to dry then find the ungummed slit at the back of the block (see final photo) and slide a blunt blade around the edge to release the top sheet.
